About

We’re Not Here to Lecture You

Honest, independent reviews of alcohol-free drinks, sober-friendly venue guides, and real advice for conscious living in the UK.

The Clear Head started because we got bored of the options. Not the drinks — well, actually yes, the drinks too at the start — but the conversation around them. Every alcohol-free resource we found was either tied to recovery, or so relentlessly positive about non-alcoholic Pinot Grigio that you knew they’d never actually tasted it.

We wanted something different: an independent lifestyle platform that treats you like an adult who made a choice, not a patient who needs managing.

What We Actually Do

We find the good stuff. We drink it so you don’t have to spend £14 on something that tastes like grape juice and disappointment. We review drinks honestly — including the ones that aren’t worth your money. We write guides that are actually useful, mapping out the bars across UK cities where you can have a proper night out without nursing a Coke all evening.

We test recipes that work. Not “just add soda water” recipes, but proper, balanced non-alcoholic cocktails crafted with premium botanical spirits.

And we write about the real experience — navigating social pressure, awkward questions, your first sober Christmas, and the Sunday mornings that are suddenly a lot more productive than they used to be.

Who We’re For

You don’t need a reason not to drink, and you don’t need to explain yourself to us. Whether you’ve just stopped drinking, you’re sober-curious, cutting back, driving, pregnant, or simply prefer clearer mornings — you’re in the right place.

Note: The Clear Head is a lifestyle publication. If you require medical guidance or recovery support services, Drinkaware is a dedicated resource to visit.

The Person Behind It

The Clear Head is founded and edited by Damian Youell — a UK-based writer who got fed up drinking tap water at bars and decided to publish honest reviews instead. We maintain 100% editorial independence: we use real opinions and never accept paid placement or freebies in exchange for positive reviews.

If a drink is excellent, we’ll say so. If it’s not worth the £4.50 charged for it, we’ll say that too.
